General Information

Our boat is a 31 ft. Rampage powered by twin 300 HP Detroit Diesels reaching at speeds up to 22 knots. It is fully equipped to assure a safe and successful angling experience both off shore and in shore. It offers the best in world-class sport fishing. The vessel is located in Tamarindo, an ideal spot for vacationers and anglers from all over the world, equipped with Tuna tower, fighting chair and full cabin with walk-in bathroom. Our boat offers plenty of shade for anglers wishing to escape the sun. Cool drinks are provided and included in the package. Coolers and microwave on board.

We can accommodate both offshore and near shore fishing on a full day charter. Offshore fishing generally targets Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna and Dorado (Mahi Mahi) while near shore fishing generally targets bottom-fish, Mackerel, Skipjack and Roosters.

For your comfort, Osprey provides a full cabin with walk -in bathroom and plenty of shade on deck. Lunches, snacks, sodas, beer and bottled water are provided. We prefer to limit our parties to six anglers.

We are operating out of Tamarindo since 1989, have one of the most experienced and reliable crews in the area. Our captain has 30 years of experience in fishing out of Tamarindo, the 1st mate has been with us since 1989. They are also excellent teachers to newcomers to the sport. They are committed to conservation ethics in sport fishing.

Catch-and-release is practiced on all bill fish. With food species, the practice is keep what you can eat and release the rest.

Season

There are two seasons in Tamarindo, the dry season and the rainy season. Dry season begins in December and lasts into May. Winds can be strong January, February and March but calm water lies a short run time to the south. This can be our best season for Marlin.

Rainy season usually begins mid-May and we enjoy sunny mornings followed by an afternoon shower most days through August. Rain can be heavier and more frequent in September and October but fishing remains strong and many people enjoy this quieter ” green season”.

Fishing…

Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna, Dorado and many other species can be caught year round, however mid-May through mid-August is best as far as numbers of sailfish go. Marlin fishing peaks from November through March.

March and April are good variety months for Billfish, Tuna and Reef Fish, as is the period from November to December. Other species frequently taken include Rooster fish, Amberjack, Wahoo and Rainbow Runner.

A four acre reef just a few miles off the beach, which rises to within a hundred feet of the surface, is home to big Cubera Snapper, Grouper and other Reef Fish. A 20 minute run time puts you out at the continental shelf where you can start trolling for Blue, Black and Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Bigeye and Yellow fin Tuna, Wahoo and Dorado.
